State Chief minister Digvijay Singh has said that Devanagri
(Hindi) software would be developed in the State to make in
an important centre of northern India. 'We aim to link all
the tehsils of the State with computers by the year end'.
Mr. Singh told reporters here yesterday after inaugurating
a rural cybercafe here in Dhar district.
Stating that internet had brought a revolution in the information
sector, he said in a bid to give a boost to the information
technology the State government had planned to make a pragmatic
utilization of the knowledge based services with an effective
participation of the public sector.
Observing that a major chunk of software was being developed
in English, he said the State government had embarked on mooting
extensive programme to develop Hindi software. 'This would
enable the State to become an important centre of northern
India'.
Maintaining that development of software parks would entail
enormous benefit to the industry and other sectors, he said
it was essential to disseminate the benefit of this technology
to the common masses.
Referring to the Gyandoot scheme being started in Dhar district,
he said the State government would maintain complete transparency
in giving franchises for delivering the information services.
